Application for admission is initially handled by the principal of the learner’s present school in cooperation with the responsible school psychologist of the Education District servicing the particular area.
The departmental application forms are completed, and available documentation – such as reports from educators, therapists, psychologists and medical and other professionals – is included. Recommendations are made by the local Education and Management Development Centre (EMDC) before the application is sent for approval to the Director of Specialised Education Services at the Western Cape Education Department. This progress may take more or less six weeks.
If an appropriate vacancy is available, arrangements are made for admission. If the learner has to make use of our daily commuting services, a seat on the appropriate bus should also be secured, if available.
Learners are admitted on a provisional basis.
If a vacancy is not available, the learner’s name is entered on the waiting list for the appropriate grade. |
